Accounting and Payroll Specialist Program – 38 Weeks
Program Description and what jobs can be applied?
- One of the benefits of becoming an Accounting and Payroll Administrator is the diverse workplaces a person can choose from. Essentially, every business needs an accounting department to organize and documents their accounts that pay the bills, as well as skilled workers who handle paychecks for employees.
- Jobs that can be applied*: Accounting bookkeeper, Accounting Assistant, Accounting technician, Bookkeeper, Accounting clerk, Accounts payable clerk, Accounts receivable clerk, Payroll clerk, Payroll administrator, Tax return preparer
       *Some jobs may need experience.
What are the duties to be performed?
- Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems
- Reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements in a ledger or computer system
- Compile budget data and documents based on estimated revenues and expenses and previous budgets
- Prepare period or cost statements or reports
- Calculate costs of materials, overhead and other expenses based on estimates, quotations, and price lists
- Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems
Qualifications Required
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Completion of Diploma at College or courses certified by the Certified General Associations of Canada

Business administration generally involves ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the company function optimally. Business administration employees typically work in specific office departments to gain sufficient experience and develop their skill set. Careers in Business Administration can be Accounting, Business Consultant, Marketing specialist, Business analyst, Human Resource specialist.

What are the duties to be performed?
- Oversee and co-ordinate office administrative procedures and review, evaluate and implement new procedures
- Innovate by applying new technologies in the workplace
- Manage general activities related to making products and providing services
- Analyze financial statements, sales reports, and other performance indicators
- Establish work priorities, delegate work to office support staff, and ensure deadlines are met and procedures are followed
- Carry out administrative activities associated with admissions to post-secondary educational institutions
- Administer policies and procedures related to the release of records in processing requests under government access to information and privacy legislation
Qualifications Required
- Completion of secondary school is required.

- Administrative assistants perform a variety of administrative duties in support of managerial and professional employers. They perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks that help develop their transferable skills. Some of their duties include answering phone calls, scheduling meetings and appointments, greeting guests and sending and receiving correspondence.
- An administrative assistant position presents many future opportunities that allow you to use your transferable skills. From accounting, bookkeeping, human resources to, setting up office procedures, answering telephonic and electronic inquiries, to communicating with other departments they generally support various types of administrative tasks in organization.

What are the duties to be performed?
- Set up and maintain manual and computerized information filing systems
- Determine and establish office procedures
- Perform day-to-day Bookkeeping using computerized software and send invoices to customers
- Inputs and updates information in databases and spreadsheets.
- Answer telephone and electronic enquiries and relay telephone calls and messages
- May compile data, statistics and other information to support research activities
- May supervise and train office staff in procedures and in use of current software
Qualifications Required
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Completion of Diploma at College in Business or other program for administrative assistants
